mixed feelings...
relieved coz no more stress
sad coz everything has come to an end..
but somehow i know that its not the end of our group's bond and friendship:)
its just the beginning rite? XD

but seriously, u gain something , you lose something :(

i gained a lot of things from this camp.. a one time life experience and so i really treasure it :) besides more knowledge about volunteering, i gained valuable friendship and kinship:) its pretty hard to really describe about everything but i really really love my group a lot ! My " family" :) maybe not related by blood but still somehow i see them as my real family .. my real father, siblings,aunties,uncles, nanny :)
i gained so much from this experience and i am really glad i went for this camp!

if not for this camp, i would not have really taken the first step into volunteering XD

if not for this camp, i would not have gained such a wonderful family:)

BUT....

yes, i guess i lost pretty much too :(
time, sleep but most impt, my family's trust in me...><
shant elaborate lahh..
this blog is meant to be happy=D

but i dun regret spending so much time on YV this december as i know this is probably the only time i can afford to do so.. JC life is going to be so packed lahh :( sian!
and all the happy memories with the group, laughing together, gossipping, niaoing...awww man, its something i will surely never regret :D

i have confidence in our grp bond:) but at the same time, to keep our bond alive, we need everyones cooperation;) i really hope that can happen! XD

anyway, for the past few days, including today, i have been reaching home always later than 10 o.0 woahh rite! haii! but it was FUN :) went peng yong's house to do
the scrapbk n presentation for the past 3 days:)

tuesday was a fun day :)
we crapped alot, laughed a lot, spammed tagboards, niao-ed , played and of course, did our work :)

only me n alvin could make it so the both of us plus pengyong spent the whole day doing lor:)but well, we enjoyed ourselves! all the brainstorming, niao-ing,laughter,arm wrestling,handstand( sort of ),crapping, gossiping, MSN convos, phone calls etc etc .. too many interesting events to list them down.. but in overall, it was really FUN :):)

shall blog more about afterglow tmr bah:) quite tired now :)

been a few days since i last blogged XD

anyway, its finally the end of my YVIP attachment and now , only afterglow is left..
mixed feelings actually but i think i will kind of miss my " daily routine" for the past 2 weeks.. waking up at 7 and heading to bedok interchange for breakfast with the others , taking bus 38/229 to sun dac, interacting with clients in morning, lunch at hawker centre in afternoon , dancing n singing with clients, rehearsing for our pfm.. crapping, laughing, gossiping, doing banner .. and going for dinner together,shopping for presents...haha .. many many wonderful memories that i know will stay in me all the way through the years in my life:)

these 2 weeks have really been one of the busiest, "brokest", memorable n meaningful weeks in my whole life.. :)and i really really really love my group :) everyone in my group-- pengyong,nas,hongchuan,renuka,jinghuan,
alvin,mervin and waikit.. :)i am sure that we will keep in contact all our lives and yups, stay bonded all the way <33 YLF rawks :) although i cannot judge what other grps are like, but i am pretty confident that we are one of the most united group ..we really work well together as a group , great rapport;P everyone in the group is special in his/her own way :) and i am really very thankful to be a part of this group <33

thru this attachment, i got to know more people, like the teachers at the centre:)all of them were really nice and enthu and warm.. heartwarming :):) , especially jon, jessie and christina, i think i bonded best with they 3 :)during yesterdays pfm,seeing them waving their hands, clapping and cheering for us made me really feel so thankful for everything and i felt like part of the sun dac chai chee family ... its really a special feeling that i am sure i wouldnt get to experience it if i did not go to the attachment ..:D they really helped us a lot, gave us a lot of good advice, treated us like one of them and believe me, their presence brought joy during our 2 weeks of attachment.^_^

and i know i will DEFINITELY continue volunteering there in whatever i can :) one of the best things of this attachment is going to the centre early in the morning and waving hello to all the clients.. especially when they wave back or they wave to u first:) u somehow feel that you made left an impact, an impression on them, even though it may be small, it still exists:) this is the thing i love about volunteering, making a difference in their lives and bringing joy to them :)

i think i achieved it with our clients, like this hearing impaired and mute boy-chong siang :D he loves dancing and somehow i click very well with him.. coz hes always smiling :) thats something i really love and admire about him,.. being hearing impaired n mute can really be a torture but the fact that he faces it with a smile really warms my heart.. gives me the motivation to keep on smiling in life :) he even wrote us a " thank you " card :) very very very sweet:) well, of coz there are the other clients whom i like a lot :) every one of the clients have left an impact on me, some left a bigger one, some left a smaller one but every one is special to me :)

today was the 7th day of attachment..
had a BRAND NEW EXPERIENCE today as we went to SUN DAC choa chu kang

well, somehow i feel quite lucky that i got SUN DAC chaichee coz seriously the work at cck is tougher.. and yes, i do feel a sense of belonging at SUN DAC chaichee.. :) i feel more comfortable there and in fact, i kind of miss them after a whole day at cck ><

many new experiences,made new friends,learned new things ... it was a meaningful day :)
but paisehh, too tired to write everything down -.-
anyway, went to eat dinner after that and buy some stuff :)

today was the 6th day of attachment:)
well, pretty pathetic morning coz only me, nas,hc n merv from YLF was there.. well, there was shawn n wenkai :) so quite ok lah ! did stuff n gossiped -.-
anyway, OUR BANNER IS FINALLY DONE! YAY!!:):) i feel really proud of it coz its a TEAM EFFORT:)

anyway today, i led the song n dance session all by myself ! haha:) well, it was definitely not easy.. esp the dance part lahhh!! coz there were times when it got quite COLD :( n i guess i need to be more decisive ehh n maybe come up with ways to make the dance more FUN! but theres really stress n pressure when u take the lead.. ohh and kok wei n meng shuen came down today too :)

finally,everyone came:) well, basically the day was pretty goodXD a typical day :)
looking forward to tmr! and tmr ! and tmr ! and so on :)

must really treasure the days left le! ^_^

firstly , abt my font , AACKK.. i also dont know how it go SO big!
apparently,i accidentally changed some stuff on my template n i DUNNO how to change it back.. well, either someone helps me or pls bear with my BIG BIG font XP

ohh n i got NEW SPECS that look really weird on me :( wahh! haii... but one good thing is that surprisingly my degree din change.. so now i have two specs.. maybe shall wear them on alternate days LOL!

OK, shall start my recap:)starting from friday...........
fifth day of attachment...
basically spent the whole morning doing the banner.. glitter n stuff :) me, hc, wai kit n py coz jh, nas and merv went botanical gardens with a grp of clients ><

anyway, we had fun !!:) :)crapping n stuff.. py left halfway for a while to buy movie tickets.. so left me , hc n waikit.. we did our work and talked ALOT.. well, mainly me n hc... talking abt MANY MANY things :) waikit was mainly listening ...anyway drew angels n snowman for the centre.. ^_^ it feels great to know that u are doing something good using ur skills:)

anyway, lunch timE.py came back n we went eat lunch :) fun lunch too lahh.. i was pretty MALOO.. -.- but nvm..we went back and oh yah! pple from PWC came over.. its part of their coporate service programme.. smth lyk dat >< smth lyk our CIP ... well, certain observations made but of coz , its not really appropriate to post up here..

but it was LUCKY that jh they all came back halfway during our song n dance session n we got HIGH :) YAYY!!n alvin came also.. so we spent the rest of the day on our banner and crapping, talking, reflecting and basically another GRP BONDING sessions :) :)sweet!

anyway gt free macs dinner n we went to watch ALVIN N THE CHIPMUNKS with the other YV pple :) its a NICE CUTE MOVIE xD yea!! glad i watched it :) ohh den somehow , everyone left except our grp, shawn and wenkai so we fooled around for a while before going home :) well, left out some details but nvm :) i reached home at 11 lah! so lucky my mom nt back yet :)

anyway, sat was housework all the way until evening :) i went for UTP outing:) hoho! lucky me ! i missed the talk :) anyway had a short quick dinner and we spent A LONG LONG TIME disucssing n deciding on where to go lahh -.- haii.. finally ended up at VIVO at 9 plus -.- fooled around, chatted n played there for a while before we went home, almost everyone took MRT , except me , hk , jasmine n jiawei :) took 30 with hk n jiawei and had a nice long chat hoho XD

OK! today :)
met up with jh,alv n merv today for some stuff :)
had a FUN TIME!! :) walking, gossiping, eating and XXXing...
but everyone was pretty tired towards the end :( haha

today was fourth day of attachement..
basically din really mingle with the clients except for the song n dance session :D
wahh.. that really took away my voice lah coz the christmas carols seriously too high or too low for me :( nvm.. bring water next time ehh :)

yay! we did a good job with the banner:) with glitter n lightsticks, i bet u that must be the best banner ever:) group effort!!<33

and my drawings are hung up everywhere:) hoho.. coz the person in charge asked me to draw santa claus and she went to photocopy and let the clients colour:) and it was hung up everywhere..

each santa claus that was hung up represented me n the client somehow and i cant help but feel proud for myself n the client :):) its really heartwarming!

anyway, today was pretty tiring lah :)

tmr shld be more FUN :)

todays the THIRD day of attachment!:)
haha.. another tiring day as usual.. but it was good , fun and meaningful.
well, today , my patience was really tested. i was supposed to get the client to identify the same colour toys and put them together but shes easily distracted so most of the time, i seemed to be talking to myself and i used all the ways i could to get her to do it correctly.. even talking repeatedly in hokkien, i talked non-stop for abt half hr i think.. woahh.. my mouth really ran dry 0.0
frankly speaking, it was really hard and i really can understand how the trainers there feel at times.. :) its really NOT EASY but whenever i think abt my future goal, it serves as a motivation to keep me going:) thats a advantage to me lah...:)
well, finally my client did it and the sense of achievement and satisfaction is really wonderful.. not smth that a normal person can feel in daily life:) its special in its own way :)
my second client was pretty cooperative:) and i was really proud of her when she managed to do what she was supposed to do :) and omg, I LIKE THE BOY alot !:)
its really inspiring , the way he always smiles even when hes deaf and mute .. the energy n efforts he put in for dancing:) its really touching, inspiring and heartwarming..
if someone whos deaf and mute can still have such a positive outlook on life, i see no reason why we cant.. in fact we have more reasons to be positive abt life :) thats really something we ought to reflect on.....
anyway, continued the pfm preparations today :) hoho.. i really hope it bonds us even more ^_^ everyone was kinda dead today.. i can sense it lah.. haii.. guess we r tired.. even i feel so tired i could just fall aslp now .. lol.
tmr 4th day le! must make the best out of my time here:);) there might not be a second chance:( so

VERY TIRED NOW >.<

so this shall be a short but sweet post :D

basically 2ND DAY of attachment.. well, it went pretty smoothly:)in fact it was rather meaningful and funXD
the day started off with breakfast at macs , as usual :)
i made a new discovery abt MARIGOLD milk -.- LOL.. and i was cheated?!? by ?!? nvm.. not impt o.0
so we went there and we started on the banner..
halfway through, me n mervin went to accompany one grp of clients to go and buy shirts at giordano at bedok interchange.. well, many people stared ... but i guessed that was unavoidable. even though we were pretty quiet, i somehow felt happy to go out with them ;) sounds weird? well, i dunno how to phrase it.. i mean, some pple would feel ashamed or watever, but i didnt , in fact, i felt really happy i could somehow in a way be there for them... even a simple gesture such as holding their hand really meant a lot <33...
anyway we went back and continued with the banner.. NICE:) WE DID A GREAT JOB :)haha..really glad they liked my angel and my baby reindeer:):)
we went for lunch and hong chuan joined us ...
when we went back , it was time for DANCE and SONG session :) everyone was super HIGH and we all tried our best,.. but yes lahh, INITIATIVE was lacking.. but its ok, we will learn :):)

i really felt a sense of achievement when i see everyone dancing and singing so happily :) especially coz there was this lady who returned my " thumbs up " sign :) that was really heartwarming !
hopefully tmr it will be better:)

okk.. so after that, we prepared for our pfm and everyone was quite HIGH :) well, at first .. heheh.. anw theres this male client who was really nice, kept on smiling and we played and danced together.. i am happy coz i see that he is happy :)

anyway, after that , we had debrief and we went to eat dinner with renuka and pengyong and we had changloo later :) hoho XD basically common crapping, discussing :) it was nice as usual..

me, mervin and alvin took MRT while pengyong, jinghuan and chang loo took bus home :)

reahced home at 10 :( tiredtired! but i think our grp rawks :)

today was FIRST DAY of attachment:)

quite an interesting day :0 started out by meeting for breakfast at MACS.. crapped awhile den moved on to interchange where we met Nas for the first time :) oh gosh, she very cute n pretty :) ( btw i m straight:))
so we headed to sun-dac centre and soon after a briefing, we went to interact with the ID people... well, personally, i realise it is a lot harder than i thought. coz it requires skills in a way.. you got to be gentle but firm.. you got to see how the client is like coz each client is different in their own way.. its really hard to write everything down here coz i havent really phrased my thoughts well in my head..

i admit i was a little startled by some of them but i shld try to get used to it and treat them as normal pple :)but sometimes i worry abt whether i am doing the right thing, handling them the correct way but well, i guess we have to learn with experience ehh :):) anyway.. i really learnt A LOT A LOT A LOT .. some from experience dealing with them and some from the previous experiences that the trainers there told us :)

well, i am just going to TRY MY BEST :") coz yup as long as you try your best, even if theres no improvement, at least you will still feel good :) hopefully, by the end of everything, i will be a better volunteer!!

anyway, had a fun time after lunch :) and i ALWAYS enjoy our debriefs:)
hope tmr will be better!!:)

after that went for dinner with the others:) well actually not really dinner since i had to buy dinner back :)but we crapped AND crapped..haha:) fun lah XD another grp bonding session ehh! but without the other TFs.. haha shld have a real crap session with everyone PRESENT :)

okay.. i cant believe i have been chatting online since i came online -.- abt 1 hr plus- 2 hr le.. 2 mass convo and many small convo..-.- hahah:) oops.. planned to do my GP journal n the banner thing.. but now.. OOPPS:)

okay heres my detailed post for my YVIP camp :)
sorry no photos yet :( but once i have photos i will post them up..

in overall, this is one of the best camps i went to bah :) and i am sure it will be one of the camps where i will really be good friends with my grp mates coz we are going to spend the next 2 weeks together for attachment. We are going to be attached to SUN-DAC Centre For The Disabled ( chai chee) where there will be physically and intellectually disabled people . We will be going there as volunteers, helping out, performing, planning activities for the people over there.. frankly speaking, i am really quite excited yet nervous .. coz i dunno whether i will be able to do a good job. i am sure this attachement will really have an impact on me :)anw, After the camp, i realised that volunteering is not as easy as it seems, but at the same time, as long as you do it sincerely with your heart, it will come naturally :):) well, i am still a beginner! XD

okay heres my promised detailed post about my camp .. hope it aint boring :)

DAY 1 :

woke up at 5.45 coz din finish packing >< and worse still, before i left house, i found that there was a hole in my camp bag, but lucky only a small hole lah :) supposed to reach CCK MRT station at 8 but arrived there earlier.. saw my TFs for the first time :) they looked nice:)soon, more and more pple arrived .. although it was a small group, but the atmosphere was pretty high :)had to wait for jinghuan who mistook YCK for CCK -.- haha:) but luckily we werent the last grp to set off to the campsite.. got to know my group members - alvin,mervin and wai kit.. and of coz my dear jinghuan :)

reached there and it looked quite ulu , a bit like pulau ubin O.O but it seemed good :) a lot of green -.- lol.. anyway we went to our bunks to put down our bag .. before we gathered in the boys bunk to think of our grp names.. we were pretty dead and quiet.. so the poor TFs were doing their best to get us alive and come up with good names:) in the end we got inspiration from this dragonfly.. and since we had to start our grp name with "Y", we called ourselves" YLF".. opposite of " FLY" :)well.. it stands for Youth Love Forests since our theme was " shower the forest, grow the trees for life'..


anyway, we did our grp flag and played mini icebreakers as well as mass icebreakers:) quite nice n fun.. attended visual workshops,wheelchair workshops and we had sharing sessions to share abt our thoughts :) i really liked those sharing sessions where everyone says what they really feel and seriously , listening to each others opinions and views really are inspiring n motivating :) especially when you agree with the other party's view:D we had song sessions where we learnt the YV song.. its damn nice:) with sign language handsigns for the chorus.. ask me next time if u wan know :)

the day passed pretty quickly, soon we went to bathe and after dinner, we were thinking abt our campfire pfm.. our grp was still pretty dead although there were many many gay moments :)that i am sure will be something each of us of YLF will remember very clearly :) hongchuan, our other TF arrived and he helped us GET HIGH :) we played games and we really did well in each station ... ^_^ teamwork n bonding again! we also learnt the YV dance! DAMN FUN :)

the day ended on a happy note coz we started to really enjoy ourselves as a grp :)

DAY 2
quite a good start:) we could joke n laugh around as a grp :) we danced in the morning before breakfast , learnt more new songs which were super nice:) and we had many workshops , including our attachments planning, workshops on children with special needs, workshops abt volunteering, elderly and paralympics( sports for disabled pple)and i really benefitted a lot a lot...

its really hard to express all my feelings and thoughts abt each workshop.. but each speaker really had their own stories , experience that really made me look up to them and gave me a more down to earth view abt the disabled in our society. It really made me feel that I was really fortunate to be a healthy girl and somehow i know the next time i see a disabled person, its empathy, not sympathy and my heart will really reach out to them :) i really admire them.. i still rmb seeing this really touching video abt paralympics.. actually the disabled pple are still human, like us and i see no reason why we should see them in a lower light and even shunt them.. maybe i was such a person in the past..but i am sure i wun be in the future..

i realise that words really make a powerful impact.. i wun ever use the 3 words , " idiot", " retard" and " stupid" in the future on other pple.. coz u can never imagine the hurt if someone disabled heard it , even if u werent directing it to them.. if the pple who are disabled can live life , why cant we? we should be leading a better life, should be thankful for everything given to us :) haha.. i am not being emo,, just some thoughts n reflections:) anyway back to the camp... TIME FOR GAMES!!!

actually the games were meant to be outdoor.. dealing with MUD.. but since it was raining so it became wet weather plan and we played water games indoor :) DAMN SHIOK lah :) i am very proud of my grp and my TFs.. we really bonded, cheered, shouted,encouraged and did our very best :)

although we din win some, we thrashed some :)there was this sense of belonging .. hard to really describe but we really rawked:) i was COMPLETELY DRENCHED after the games coz the comm kepy on pouring water on us when they could -.- haha :)this happy memory would also probably stay with us for a very long time <33 after bathing, there were song sessions,blah blah and before we slept , discussed abt our attachment activites proposal :)

another day passed and i was really happy to see that we were bonding better as a grp :)

DAY 3

well, the main 2 highlights of the day was DISABILITY CHALLENGE and CAMPFIRE:) shall talk about the disability challenge first:)

well, each of us was supposed to assume these roles: blind, hearing impaired,wheelchair bound, mute and normal person. alvin was the blind, jinghuan was the hearing-impaired,waikit was the wheelchair bound , mervin was the mute and i was the normal.. was supposed to be the one on wheelchair but nvm :) due to some reasons became a normal girl.. but i guessed i was really stressed out coz i unconciously took on all the responsibility of the other grp members safety as i was the only normal one.. haha.. din realise until others told me.. well, i guessed thats me>< but luckily i relaxed and everything became better :)

anyway, each " disabled " person was really " disabled", the worst one was the blind-alvin:) ahha.. scotchtape with cotton wool was stuck on his eyes and he had to put on a totally black sunglasses.. he was really blind throughout the 5 hours O.O.. wai kit also really sat on the wheelchair all the way.. we were supposed to go around different parts of singapore to complete some simple tasks at the stations... for the first time in my life, i saw a wheelchair being wheeled up a bus and i saw how troublesome it was.. and the worst thing was that the bus we took was one of the few buses that had facilities for the wheelchair bound people.. imagine how the difficulty the people on wheelchair would face getting around from place to place>< haii..

well.. i started out being alvin's "eyes" but after a period of time, jinghuan helped and i went to the others and slowly , mainly waikit and alvin became more and more independent :) i believe the memory would really have an impact on them :)our journey was quite smooth :) we did joke although everyone was very sian at first.. haha.. due to the disablities bah :)

did my best to liven up the atmosphere coz i was the only normal one.. din really succeed fully but at least to a certain extent :) frankly,it would be wonderful if i was given the chance to be one of those disabilities because it seemed hard but i realised that being the only normal one was not as easy as it seemed.. i hoped i did okay :) and by 4 plus, i was REALLY drained out.. even peng yong said so.. hoho..
but luckily in the end , we reached VIVO and we took a bus back to prepare for the campfire:)

in overall, the disability challenge was a real eye opener and a great learning experience for me :) it was really one of a kind i guess:)

CAMPFIRE!!! haha.. our pfm was a skit about the past few days ..:) it was a bit last minute but it was a real team effort :)we put in some inside jokes ..:) although it was a bit cold at some parts.. i could see how everyone tried.. team effort, thats what made everything so wonderful :)

other grps pfm was good too! had a few competitions, pfms, song sessions were sweet n heartwarming where we put our arms around each other and started to sing :) we played games, cheered , laughed, had fun and finally ANGEL AND MORTAL session :) my angel was jinghuan's mortal,, super coincidental!:)

he gave me a box of chocolates:) it was quite a successful angel n mortal although it lasted for only 3 days :) finally we danced the YV dance and got VERY HIGH:)but everything had to come to an end and it ended.. we were the only grp which headed to debrief after the campfire.. our last debrief.. sounds nostalgic.. haha:)we exchanged our personal thoughts again and we even gossiped and i got to know some personal stuff of XXXs .. hoho:) i really love my grp !:) we definitely bonded and i am sure we are going to bond even more for the next two weeks:)

DAY4

last day.. everyone was quite sian at first,, tired mahh but it ended with a heartwarming note, with everyone sitting in a circle and singing our YV songs, exchanging of numbers,contact details and three cheers =D after the whole thing, we went out to eat and crapped, did dares ,prank called, straight jokes, sick jokes,homos :)..

unable to describe everything but i truly enjoyed myself.. there were even gossips and i really saw how everyone bonded and how bonded the TFs were:)
a pity i din go watch movie with them.. haha had stuff to do :( n was very tired><
but finally home sweet home :)

ok that marks the end of my 4D3N camp :) sweet memories with more coming on:)
wun really be sentimental and stuff like that since i will still be seeing them :)

this has been a busy week and yes, i do feel guilty for spending almost the whole of my hols outdoors:( and not helping at home :( haii.. well, i dun regret but i feel bad.. shall try to help out more during weekends:)

today was UTP last day... well, i guess everythings gotta end one day but the impt thing r the friendships n memories ehh XD

was very blur in the morning and took the wrong MRT train, instead of the train to pasir ris, i went on the train to boon lay -.- din realise at all until i reached kallang .. coz i looked out of the door and i saw this sign " pasir ris 1 min" and i got a shock lah O.o haii...aha:)

anyway today was another tiring but fufilling day.. quite slack yet quite busy.. oh god i am contradicting myself :) and i met two very cute boys .. hoho they REALLY very cute lahh :D and we had the most interesting conversations-- from "what school u from" to " we are in ur neighbouring class-.- " to " are u singaporean" to " u got stead?" and finally the most no link de.. " have u eaten katong laksa-.-" wahh piang ... i was really amused :) but they were really funny.. and they shld be sec1s this year:)

anyway, today had more time go around n talk talk :) and i set up this password system which was destroyed-.- HAH! from the 3 passwords: lyon, greenrawks and roar.. it was changed to " lion,blue rawks and rah" -.- but it was really funny n i am sure we all had a good laugh XD thats all that matters isnt it?:)

think i got to know some pple better n much better today :) ahaha.. must always keep in touch :)

this year UTP was REALLY A MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE:) one i would never forget :) and one where the friendships would probably last :) I LOVE UTP 2007..

anyway have 4D3N camp tomorow so gtg le:)
